Errol Musk, the father of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, made headlines recently when he bought a $100,000 sports car just days after his son’s company went public. Some people are calling him evil, saying that he is taking advantage of his son’s success. Here’s why they may be right. A couple of weeks ago, at one of Elon’s press conferences, he mentioned that he will not be making any more cars for himself. He said I’ll stick to my rockets. When reporters asked him about it in follow-up interviews, later on, he backed off from the statement and said there was still no plan to make more cars for himself.
So what was this all about? It turns out, that Errol owns 20% of a car manufacturing company called Rivian Automotive LLC. They’re working on an electric truck as well as an electric SUV that could compete with Elon’s Teslas. What does this have to do with me? Well, Rivian needs investors and Tesla has plenty of them!
So what was all that about? So what is going on then? Did Errol buy a car to spite his son because he wouldn’t make one for himself or did he just want to have fun in a brand new toy after making his son rich beyond belief from Tesla stock sales following their IPO announcement two weeks ago? Perhaps both of these answers are true. As far as we know, Elon does not know about it or that Rivian even exists but perhaps he should!
The truth about Errol
Errol was an abusive husband and father who often put his family in danger. He was also a con artist and gambler who squandered the family’s money. As a result, Elon and his siblings were often left to fend for themselves. Despite all this, Elon has said that he still loves his father and has forgiven him for his past wrongs. It’s just one of those terrible things. You can’t just forget about it, Elon told Rolling Stone Magazine. My dad will have made many mistakes along the way, but I think fundamentally he tried.
Is he really as great as we’ve been told over and over again? The answer is no. Most people have heard his story either through movies or from Elon himself, but what exactly did Errol do that has people turning their backs on him? Here are just a few of his infamous deeds:
- • Errol forced his children to live in squalor. He often made them ride bicycles barefoot due to money issues, so they were susceptible to muggings and car accidents. When he couldn’t pay for food, they lived off scraps of food thrown away by restaurants. He often left them at home alone while he travelled across Canada to find gold; sometimes he would leave them in a hotel room while he gambled all night long.
- • He was abusive to his family. He often beat his children and cheated on his wife with multiple women who he brought home in front of them. He also forced their mother to get an abortion when she became pregnant during a one-night stand while they were living in Canada. The abortions didn’t work out as planned, so she gave birth to twins that Errol immediately abandoned at a hospital, never seeing them again after that day.

Inventor Errol Musk was in the news recently for stealing the design of a water purifier from another inventor. This isn’t the first time he’s been accused of stealing someone’s idea; he has a long history of it. Is he just a brilliant mind that moves too fast for copyright law, or is he an evil genius who preys on other people’s hard work?
He said I’m not a businessman, I’m a business person. And to be fair, with his creations SpaceX and Tesla, he might have done well at being an entrepreneur as well. He may have also developed this as part of his strategy: get ahead by any means necessary so nobody can catch up to him. It will be interesting to see what the legacy of this family will be – we already know about Elon’s famous philanthropy endeavours through The Giving Pledge – but there are many differing opinions about what his dad did wrong here.
Does Errol lack his son’s social consciousness in his business dealings, or is he a money-hungry sociopath that preys on others’ hard work? The truth lies somewhere in between; it will be interesting to see where Elon lands as well. Does he believe that nobody should own anything because everything belongs to everyone else, like many socialists believe these days, or does he just not care about stealing from other people if it serves his purposes? And does care about how other people treat you matter much when you have billions of dollars at your disposal.

Some people in the comments section have said that it is unfair to judge Mr Musk based on the actions of his father. However, it is important to remember that we are not judging Mr Musk himself, but rather his father’s character. From what we can see, it seems that Mr Musk’s father is a very manipulative man who is willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants. While this doesn’t necessarily make him evil, it does make him someone who is not to be trusted.
It is hard to believe that Mr Musk did not pick up on his father’s shady ways growing up, or that he didn’t realise what was going on in his life once he grew older. If Mr Musk is truly as intelligent as many people claim him to be, then it seems unlikely that he would have been oblivious to such an important part of his own life story – unless of course there are other issues at play here which we do not yet know about. It will be interesting to see how events unfold for both Mr Murdoch and Mr Musk over time and whether their respective issues get resolved or worsen as a result of how they choose to deal with these difficult situations!
